Educating Yourself

It disgusts me how much controversy there is regrading this disease, and how little is known about it. Whatever the reasons behind it, whether doctors are just that ignorant, or they are being paid off to stay silent....the bottom line is, people are suffering, really suffering with real symptoms that are NOT just in their heads.

The only way you're going to get proper help and healing is to educated yourself regarding Lyme.  When I first suspected I may have this awful illness, I didn't want to believe it. I literally wanted to close my eyes and pull the whole five year old-block-my-ears-and-hum-I'm-not-listening  tactic. But the reality is, when you HAVE Lyme, you HAVE Lyme...and pain doesn't just go away because you choose to stay ignorant.

Lyme Disease is a real medical war, and you as the patient really have to fight for your life. It's up to YOU to get diagnosed, YOU to get treatment, YOU to find coverage, and YOU to stand firm against anyone telling you "it's all in your head".

Educate yourself about the illness and don't let anyone tell you you're crazy. Because you KNOW that what you're feeling isn't the "norm" and life doesn't have to be like that.

Lyme-Friendly Tea

Just tried it this morning and I thought it was pretty delicious!  It uses Almond milk, Coconut Oil, and a tea of your preference.  I've been using Green Tea because its a good detox option.  Coconut Oil is supposed to be really good for you.  Just check out some of its benefits!

  • Helps the immune system build a resistance to infection and bacteria
  • Helps in fighting fugus, yeast overgrowth, and Candida
  • Assists thyroid control and regulates blood sugar
  • Increases metabolism, energy, and endurance.
  • Lowers cholesterol.
  • WEIGHT BALANCER!  (That alone should pack you in the car to go buy some asap!)
You can obviously cook with it, use it on your skin, hair, etc....or just take it by the spoonful.  I couldn't really manage that one; a little too oily for my taste.  I was trying to let it melt in my tea, but it made the tea really oily and hard to drink.

Thus, this recipe!  It honestly comes out like a latte! You would never ever guess there was coconut oil in it!  Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1-2tbsp Coconut Oil
splash of Almond Milk
Blender, Magic Bullet, or Immersion blender
Tea of choice

Brew your tea and let the bag sit for a little bit to infuse the flavor.

Add the Coconut Oil.  Coconut oil comes as a solid, so just drop it into the tea and let it melt by stirring.

It'll look a little oily and (kinda gross) but I promise it will taste good and you won't even know its in there!  Add as much Almond milk as you'd like. (if you're able to do sugar, you could also add in a splash of vanilla extract or honey)

Blend for a little bit till the mixture becomes pale and frothy.

Poor into pretty teacup, add a dash of cinnamon and there you go! A healthy, yummy Coconut Oil Latte!
